German figures in 1/35 scale are always popular with model-makers, and the latest set from Dragon is sure to please! It features four soldiers from the late-war period, and the set will be extremely versatile as the figures can be used separately or, alternatively, combined together to create a cohesive vignette. The poses are generic enough to match any vehicle in the 1944-45 timeframe, but they still possess individual flair. The soldiers represent members of the elite Waffen, this being a force that grew into a powerful formation of 38 divisions at its height. It was the armed wing of the Third Reich’s Schutzstaffel (“Protective Squadron”), and it never came under the chain of command of the regular Heer army.
These four 1/35 scale Waffen grenadiers are finely sculpted in plastic. The poses are extremely lifelike, with sharp creases in their camouflage clothing carefully rendered. Of special note is the NCO who is wearing a hooded parka pulled over his steel helmet, with the hood authentically recreated in this miniature scale. Each soldier comes with his own Gen2 weapons and personnel accoutrement, and the soldiers could be used equally effectively on either the Western or Eastern Fronts. Weapons in the set include Kar98k rifles, an MP 40 sub-machine gun, Panzerfaust and StG 44 assault rifle. As panzergrenadiers, these figures are designed to accompany armored vehicles, and they’ll doubtlessly prove a real boon to diorama makers.
